Living on PEI

We started our journey on April 1st with flights from Milwaukee to Detroit to Toronto. Because we had a long layover in Toronto, we were able to leave the airport and explore the city a little. We had quite the adventure on the bus and subway to get to the city. By the way, if you pay for the bus to the subway station, you don't have to pay for the subway! After walking around a bit, we felt like we needed a little treat and we spotted an ice cream truck! We shared a cup of vanilla soft serve and it was delicious and much creamier than ice cream in the States. We travelled back to the airport and prepared for the flight to P.E. Island.

Flying into Charlottetown was so exciting; we were able to see almost the entire Island from the plane! It was covered in snow - the Island has gotten 18 inches since January, and there is more snow in the forecast for while we are here! When we started planning our trip we didn't expect this type of weather but we are making the best out of it. We're no stranger to snow!

From the farm we are staying at, we can see the sea! Beyond the sea we can see Nova Scotia. The ocean is still frozen, though on the first day it was starting to thaw. Depending on the wind and temperature, the sea freezes and thaws. It is absolutely beautiful! We have helped with horse chores, went to the dump, and braided strips of wool that will eventually become dog beds. We are enjoying some British meals, drinking tea, lively conversation, and crime shows.

It is proving to be the adventure we hoped for and are sure it shall continue! We hope you enjoy hearing our tales and maybe get ideas for your own adventures, or just want to live vicariously through us!
