We were also blessed to have our friendly companion, Bella, to join us on our explorations so that we would always find our way home!
Through the woods we would smell the damp soil and the strong sweet smell of spruce. We would hear the birds chirping and sometimes the crunch of leaves and twigs under a deer's hooves as he made his getaway.
We would make a point to get to an opening of the trees in order to take in the amazing mountain views or beautiful green hillsides. The farm land was just as beautiful to us as the snow capped peaks in the distance.
On one of our treks up towards the mountains, we walked alongside the roaring mountain water as it rushed down into the villages for people to have fresh drinking water. There were so many tiny streams that fed into the main waterway that meandered through the towns and villages.
We loved to see how far we could go in one direction and check out the tiny villages we came upon. We enjoyed finding the forks in the road and trying to take the paths less travelled.
